Wroclaw is an old but vibrant city. It is forth on the list of cities with the most bridges, just after Amsterdam, Venice and St. Petersburg and it has the largest old square in Poland, after Krakow.
Breslau (German name) is wonderful, magical with its colorful town houses, cobblestone streets, old churches and it is the home of the most prominent work of art in my country, Panorama of Raclawice Battle (117×14 meter painting). This city also has the oldest restaurant in Poland, Piwnica Swidnicka with traditional Polish dishes.
I actually went to Wroclaw only for a day to see my dear friend and her band, Obscure Sphinx, playing the show. Even though it was a short visit, the city is definitely in my top 3 places in Poland, together with Zakopane and Warszawa.
I definitely recommend visiting restaurant called Stary Mlyn to try different varieties of dumpling – boiled or baked, sweet or sour. Whatever you desire and it is in the shape of dumpling, they will probably have it.
