The Dragon City

Hong Kong was the first place that I’ve visited outside Europe. The Dragon City is a mixture of modern architecture with traditional Chinese culture. It is hard to describe its vibe, you have to be there: smell it, feel it, see it and hear it…

I was fully hypnotised by the culture, people, buildings, the city noise, the smell of street food, markets, views, my hotel room on some 30th floor…

One it’s for sure, they know how to use every square of the land… raising high buildings and block of flats have a totally different meaning over here.

Recommended stuff to do:

  • The Peak – if it’s possible see it during the day and the night. It’s worth every penny to see this stunning, breathtaking view
  • Avenue of Stars – yess, Hong Kong has its own version of Hollywood Blvd, from where you can feed your eyes with the gorgeous view of Hong Kong Island
  • Street markets – which are open even at 1am… you can find markets for everything: antics, food, clothing etc.
  • Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Centre – it is located on the 55th floor of Two IFC building, the same one from which Batman jumped in “the Dark Knight” movie. It offers amazing views of the island (more skyscrapers). Plus you can find some information on the history of the local currency (if that’s what interest you).
  • A symphony of lights – grab a boat and admire the multimedia show that involves around 40 building from both sides of the harbour
  • Tian Tan Buddha – 34m tall statue located in Lantau Island. Take a cable car to explore more of the island.
  • Jumbo Kingdom – the floating restaurant in Aberdeen Harbour. Although I haven’t got a chance to dine there or even visit it but I bet it is worth to go and try some of their famous fresh seafood dishes.

That’s only some of the top attractions in Hong Kong. There is plenty of interesting stuff to do and see in that amazing city. Let me know if you have visited other interesting spots in this city.

Hong Kong is definitely the best city in Asia… so far!!!

Onward and upward,

Tsaritsa Katarzyna
